![]() So I gave them a gods constitution, they started Lvl 3 with 40 extra hp. The Sorcerer's subclass (they all used the ones given in the Campaign book) background is that they are a demi-god. So part of their character creation was to come up with a legend of their character, something that would get the countries and/or gods attention before the actual campaign starts (which makes sense for it, because it literally starts with them going on a quest sent by the gods). I decided that I wanted my players to be proper Greek Heros starting out. I ran the Odyssey of the Dragonlords (3rd Party Campaign book), very Greek Hero themed. ![]() On top of that, the reasons you're known change the powers you gain.ĭid you save a whole city, and you've been paraded through the streets as heroes? Congratulations, here's a boon.ĭid you save the life of a child, and give them some inspiring words of wisdom? Well now they see you as a hero, and truly believe in you, here's a boon.Īre you a group of known law-breakers passing through the kingdom? Whether the accusations against you are true or not, people believe them, here's a boon. I'm thinking something like "Boons of The Populace", where based on the amount of people who know about you, you gain powers. A good way to explain that would be a difference in power based on Knowledge, Admiration, and Worship. It'll never be, like, deity level since that'd be broken for obvious reasons. ![]() I'm debating making a homebrew of some new ideas and mechanics for them, ones that aren't hidden behind levels for starters.įor example, I wanted to borrow from the Prachett-born idea that Deities gain power through worship, and giving players minor-to-major boons as they help and save people. Limiting them to level 20 only sucks for starters (especially since one of them is just Misty Step once a short rest). ![]() I love the idea of them, but I don't like how they're done. ![]()
